Romi Mayes Achin In Yer Bones
Those who have caught Romi Mayes at The Boathouse or at Hillside know the Winnipeg alt-country siren is the real deal.
Mayes is a direct, saucy, no-nonsense songwriter and her sultry, bluesy, aching voice is the perfect vehicle to carry the lyrical freight which comes across loud and clear on Achin In Yer Bones.
Acclaimed Texas-based singer/songwriter Gurf Morlix (Lucinda Williams and Mary Gauthier) who summers in Ontario on Georgian Bay, produced Mayes' acclaimed 2006 release Sweet Somethin' Steady and he is back on the controls, in addition to laying down some gritty, dirty guitar, bass, piano and organ.
As good as Mayes is now, she has nowhere to go but higher and higher and higher into the alt-country stratosphere.
